Abstract
Tonsillitis characterizes by sever inflammation; acute or chronic in the pharyngeal tonsil of throat, represent an important clinical issue and commons in all ages over worldwide, caused by streptococcus bacteria especially Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria are responsible for most cases of tonsilitis besides virus, fungal and other type of bacteria. The objective of the present study to assessment of antimicrobial sensitivity patterns rather than the resistant strain of Streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes) among children and adult patients. The present study involved Thirty-six of throat swab specimens taken from children and adults' patients with tonsillitis. The results presented that the most isolated bacteria present in patient with tonsillitis was Streptococcus, represent that isolates of Streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes) were resistance for Cefamandole and Carbenicillin at 100%. While the percentage of resistance for Oxacillin and Rifampin were 87% and 80% respectively. Tonsillitis was a common health issue caused by virus and several bacteria. The vast majority of Streptococcus species isolates were found resistance to Carbenicillin, and Cefamandole and less resistance for Oxacillin, and Rifampin. The antimicrobial sensitivity test is the main procedure before give the prescription for the tonsilitis patients to avoid treatment failure and loss of cost. Further studies about vaccine and gene therapy to prevent or treat the infections of streptococcus.
