About This Journal

Muthanna Medical Journal (MMJ) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the College of Medicine, Al-Muthanna University, Iraq. The journal provides an academic platform for publishing original, high-quality research across all branches of medicine and health sciences. Its mission is to advance medical knowledge and promote evidence-based practice that contributes to improved patient care and community health locally, regionally, and globally.

MMJ welcomes submissions of original research articles, review articles, case reports, images in clinical practice, and short communications covering clinical medicine, biomedical sciences, epidemiology, public health, and medical education.

Muthanna Medical Journal (MMJ) is the official scientific publication of the College of Medicine, Al-Muthanna University, which was established in 2008 as part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOH), Iraq.

Publication Frequency

  • Current: 2 issues per year (biannual)
  • New frequency (effective September 2025): 4 issues per year (quarterly)

Article Processing Charges (APC)

The journal is free of charge for both submission and publication. All editorial and production costs are fully supported by the College of Medicine, Al-Muthanna University. There are no article processing or submission fees (APC = 0 USD).

Indexing and Archiving

MMJ is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and archived in the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) system under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. All published articles receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef.

Digital Archiving

The journal is preserved in CLOCKSS and Portico, the two leading preservation archives that guarantee persistent access for the very long term.
